FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

~ WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING TO THE LESSON?

The sun in Zanzibar is very strong that is why we strongly advice to bring water, high SPF sunscreen, sun glasses and a lycra.
If you forget to bring your own lycra, don't worry we have short and long sleeve UV protection rash vests we can borrow.

~ IS KITESURFING A DANGEROUS SPORT?

Kitesurfing is not a dangerous sport. However, you still need to act responsibly. Our top priority is the student's safety.
Thanks to our top-notch equipment as well as our experienced and certified instructors we can ensure a safe learning environment at all times.

~ WHAT ARE THE CENTRES' OPENING HOURS?

Both our centres, Nungwi and Pwani Mchangani, are open from 8:30 A.M to 6:00 P.M Monday to Sunday.

~ WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO COME TO ZANZIBAR?

Zanzibar is a great place to visit throughout the whole year and enjoy its warm tropical weather. Even rainy season has pleasant temperatures and it does not rain 27/4.

For kitesurfing the best months are end of December to March, when Kaskazi blows from the north-east and June to beginning of October, when Kusi blows from the south-east. In April and May is also possible to kite, whereas November the wind is very light.

~ IF I BRING MY OWN EQUIPMENT, CAN I STORE IT AT YOUR CENTRES?

For those who bring their own gear, we have storage onsite available for $5 per night.

~ WHAT GEAR SIZE SHOULD I BRING?

The most used kite sizes are 12m,10m and 9m. If you can bring extra luggage, when the wind gets stronger it's good to have a 7m and for light wind days a 15m.

Board sizes can vary from 135 to 140.

~ DO YOU OFFER LESSONS FOR KIDS?

Start learning from a young age! We offer lessons for your little ones. We have special equipment for children.
The minimum weight is 35kg and age is 8 years old.

~ DO I NEED TO BOOK MY LESSONS IN ADVANCE OR CAN I BOOK ONCE ONSITE?

As we do get busy, we recommend booking in advance in order to guarantee yourself a place.

~ HOW CAN I PAY?

We accept cash (TSH, USD, EUR, GBP) and all major cards.

~ IS THERE ATM'S NEAR YOUR CENTRES?

In case you need to withdraw cash, near both our centres you will find ATM machines within a 10min drive.

~ WHAT TO DO WHEN THERE IS NO WIND?

On days with no wind you can come and Stand Up Paddle the flat waters in Nungwi or explore the mangrove forest.
We can also arrange other activities to do in Zanzibar including: diving and snorkelling in Mnemba island, swimming with dolphins, Jozani forest trekking, Stone Town sightseeing, sunset music & drinks roof tops, weekend beach/full moon parties and sailing on a Dhow boat.

~ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO YOUR CENTRES?

Between our Nungwi and Pwani Mchangani centres there is only a 30min drive. If you come from the airport/Stone Town it takes 1h to get to Pwani and 1h30 to Nungwi.

~ HOW CAN I GET TO ZANZIBAR?

At present, Ethiopian Airlines, Turkish Airways, Oman Air, Qatar Airways and Fly Dubai offer international scheduled flights to Zanzibar. 
You can also get to Zanzibar by sea with the ferry from Dar es Salaam. Currently there are two ferry boats: Azam ferry that takes 1h 40min and the fast Zan ferry just 1h.

~ DO I NEED VISA TO COME TO ZANZIBAR?

To enter Zanzibar you need a visa. You don't have to apply for it in advance, you can easily get it on arrival at the airport of either Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar by paying a fee of $50.
